This week we have an exciting week with several things occurring:
Clubs start on Monday!
Friday is picture day!
Friday is also our first movie night. Pick up will be in the south lot.
Aliens in the Auditorium!!!!
Movie night!
Friday, September 20th from 3:30 to 6:00. Concessions will be sold.
$5 with a-glow-in-the-dark tattoo
The movie will be E.T. Tickets will be sold every day until the movie night during lunch.

Free and Reduced Applications for McDowell County Schools

Now you can apply on-line for your children to receive free or reduced-price school meals. Your application will be sent from a secure web site directly to the McDowell County Schools Nutrition office, so you don’t need to worry about filling out a paper form that could be lost or misplaced. is an easy, secure and convenient way to apply for free or reduced meals. It has been designed to make it easy for you to know exactly what information you need to provide and to guide you through the process. Once your application has been received the district office will determine your eligibility and send you a letter with the results.

Tracy Childers featured on Teachers in America Podcast - Click Here

Our very own Tracey Childers was featured on a podcast that aired this past week. He was asked to talk about his experience coming into teaching after a 30-year career in industry. Tracey did a wonderful job representing Foothills Community School and McDowell County Schools, but this is no surprise to those who know him. He is a wonderful educator and an even better person.

At FCS we value the importance of reading and want to engage scholars in reading and thinking critically throughout the summer. Because of this, we are entering our 3rd year of summer reading projects. These projects are meant to be fun and engaging while incorporating your choice of book!
